Euro 2024: Tournament Overview

Euro 2024 is upon us, featuring the best teams in Europe vying for the title of kings of the continent. Italy, the reigning champions, seek to defend their crown amidst formidable competition from nations like England, France, Spain, and Portugal. Hosts Germany, with the advantage of home support, cannot be counted out either.

The tournament began on June 14 and will conclude with the final on July 14. Throughout the summer, fans will see world-class performances from top players such as France's Kylian Mbappe and England's Jude Bellingham. Even smaller nations like Georgia and Albania hope to spring a few surprises during the competition.

Venues

The 17th edition of the competition will feature 24 teams battling it out across 10 German cities. Notably, UEFA has renamed the venues specifically for this event. Here are the stadiums and their hosting duties:

  • Arena AufSchalke, Cologne Stadium, Waldstadion, and Leipzig Stadium will host games up to the Round of 16.
  • Games in these venues will be held at: Gelsenkirchen's Veltins-Arena (Schalke 04), Cologne's RheinEnergieStadion (FC Köln), Frankfurt's Deutsche Bank Park (Eintracht Frankfurt), and Leipzig's Red Bull Arena (RB Leipzig).
  • Stuttgart Arena, Volksparkstadion, and Düsseldorf Arena will host games up until the quarterfinals.
  • These venues are: Stuttgart's MHPArena (VfB Stuttgart), Hamburg's Volksparkstadion (Hamburger SV), and Düsseldorf's Merkur Spiel-Arena (Fortuna Düsseldorf).
  • Fußball Arena München and BVB Stadion Dortmund will host games up until the semifinals.
  • Matches will be played at Munich's Allianz Arena (Bayern Munich) and Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park (Borussia Dortmund).
  • Olympiastadion will host games up until the final, with matches taking place at Berlin's Olympiastadion (Hertha BSC).
